Homomorphisms and quotients of degree structures

چکیده
We investigate homomorphisms of degree structures with various relations, functions and constants. Our main emphasis is on pseudolattices, i.e., partially ordered sets with a join operation and relations simulating the meet operation. We show that there are no 5nite quotients of the pseudolattice of degrees or of the pseudolattice of degrees 6 0′, but that many 5nite distributive lattices are pseudolattice quotients of the pseudolattice of computably enumerable degrees. c © 2003 Elsevier B.V. Ring structures of mod p equivariant cohomology rings and ring homomorphisms between them
In this paper, we consider a class of connected oriented (with respect to Z/p) closed G-manifolds with a non-empty finite fixed point set, each of which is G-equivariantly formal, where G = Z/p and p is an odd prime. Using localization theorem and equivariant index, we give an explicit description of the mod p equivariant cohomology ring of such a G-manifold in terms of algebra. This makes ...
متن کاملCounting homomorphisms onto finite solvable groups
We present a method for computing the number of epimorphisms from a finitely presented group G to a finite solvable group Γ, which generalizes a formula of Gaschütz. Key to this approach are the degree 1 and 2 cohomology groups of G, with certain twisted coefficients. As an application, we count low-index subgroups of G. We also investigate the finite solvable quotients of the Baumslag-Solitar ...
متن کاملThe Maximal C*-algebra of Quotients as an Operator Bimodule
We establish a description of the maximal C*-algebra of quotients of a unital C*-algebra A as a direct limit of spaces of completely bounded bimodule homomorphisms from certain operator submodules of the Haagerup tensor product A ⊗h A labelled by the essential closed right ideals of A into A. In addition the invariance of the construction of the maximal C*-algebra of quotients under strong Mori...
متن کاملFuchsian groups, coverings of Riemann surfaces, subgroup growth, random quotients and random walks
Fuchsian groups (acting as isometries of the hyperbolic plane) occur naturally in geometry, combinatorial group theory, and other contexts. We use character-theoretic and probabilistic methods to study the spaces of homomorphisms from Fuchsian groups to symmetric groups. We obtain a wide variety of applications, ranging from counting branched coverings of Riemann surfaces, to subgroup growth an...
متن کاملA Note on Nuclei of Quantale Algebras
The paper considers the role of quantale algebra nuclei in representation of quotients of quantale algebras, and in factorization of quantale algebra homomorphisms. The set of all nuclei on a given quantale algebra is endowed with the structure of quantale semi-algebra.
